Governors lead Jalisco-Nuevo León business confab in Ajijic

Discounts and preferential treatment for Jalisco exporters were key points in the agreements reached between Jalisco Governor Enrique Alfaro and his Nuevo León counterpart Samuel García during a meeting with business leaders from the two states held Thursday, February 23 at Ajijic’s Centro para la Cultura y las Artes.

pg1cThe thrust of the confab was to lay the groundwork for establishing a new economic axis taking advantage of Nuevo León’s industrial strengths and Jalisco’s leadership in agriculture.

“Together, Jalisco and Nuevo León are the strongest economic engine in Mexico,” Alfaro declared following the conclusion of the closed-door encounter. It was the second meeting between the state chief executives and representatives of the private sector to develop mutually beneficial ties of collaboration.

García, who like Alfaro is a member of  the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) party, confirmed that his state is offering Jalisco perks to stand out as the country’s leading agro-industrial sector by facilitating discounts for the export of its products through customs at the Columbia-Laredo border crossing, commonly identified as the safest, most efficient and cost-effective port of entry along on the Mexico-U.S. boundary.
