According to data from the Jalisco State Security Secretariat, since laws were enacted, almost 13,600 fines have been issued to drivers caught using cell phones while driving. Jalisco’s Mobility and Transportation regulations prohibit the use of mobile devices behind the wheel—even when stopped at a traffic light. Fines can exceed 2,000 pesos, depending on the municipality and the nature of the violation.
