The recently formed ECOS Jalisco Symphony Orchestra (OSEJ) made its debut at the Foro de Arte y Cultura in Guadalajara in late October.
This flagship ensemble, comprising 64 musicians aged 9 to 19 selected from 11 municipalities, represents the pinnacle of the state’s ECOS program (Espacios de Creación, Orientación y Desarrollo Social).
ECOS, created in 2021, is a social development initiative that seeks to decentralize artistic opportunity by providing free music education to children and young people throughout the state. It currently operates a network in approximately 50 community centers (“núcleos”) across Jalisco where the classes are held.
