10 new Volaris routes
June 2, Volaris kicked off ten new routes from the Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta airports, expanding connections to U.S. and Mexican destinations.
From Guadalajara, the airline now flies to Salt Lake City, Detroit, Reynosa, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas and Los Mochis (the terminus for El Chepe tourist train).
Puerto Vallarta gains nonstop service to Aguascalientes, Puebla and San Luis Potosí.
No license plate checkpoints
Although the deadline for mandatory license plate exchange in Jalisco expired on June 1, state traffic police have confirmed there will be no special operations or checkpoints targeting violators.
According to state tax authorities, officers can issue fines — ranging from 20 to 60 times the UMA (approximately 2,346 to 7,038 pesos) — if they stop a driver for another infraction and find expired plates.
The free exchange program has ended, so vehicle owners who still need to comply must now pay around 4,000 pesos for the replacement process.
Naked Bike Ride
The annual Naked Bike Ride returns to Guadalajara on Saturday, June 13, gathering at the Plaza José Clemente Orozco (Vallarta and Los Arcos) at 9 a.m. before rolling out at 11 a.m.
The peaceful protest promotes cyclist safety, road violence awareness and body positivity, with participants free to ride partially or fully nude.
Electric bikes and scooters are not permitted.
