A proposal before the Jalisco Congress would make road safety education mandatory from primary through high school, with two hours of instruction per month.
The initiative comes with data showing the Guadalajara metropolitan area recorded some 1,360 traffic incidents in 2025, resulting in 207 deaths and 1,636 injuries.
