Holy guacamole! Jalisco’s new record

Jalisco has broken the Guinness World Record for the largest guacamole, weighing over 12.6 metric tons (12,646 kg) – nearly double the previous mark of 6.8 tons set by Michoacán earlier this year.

More than 600 participants, including producers, volunteers, and 300 gastronomy students, prepared the dish at the Estadio Panamericano using over 90,000 avocados.

Governor Pablo Lemus celebrated the achievement as a boost for tourism and the state’s agrifood sector, noting the record helps position Jalisco’s avocado for new export markets such as South Korea.

The guacamole was later distributed among 9,000 attendees and donated to food banks and municipal DIF offices.
