With strong easterly winds prevailing throughout the afternoon, even the most experienced balloon flyers were put to the test this year at Ajijic’s Regatta de Globos.

The Cruz Roja’s Ajijic substation that has been remodeled to accommodate a small-scale emergency medical facility will hold a grand opening ceremony on Tuesday, September 24, 4 p.m.

The civic group Guadalajara 2020 says at least 5,000 people used to cycle from Guadalajara to Chapala each Sunday but that number has diminished to less than half over recent years due to the lack of road safety along the busy highway.

August 28 is a date set aside all across Mexico for paying tribute to senior citizens, alternatively known as Dia del Abuelo or Dia del Adulto Mayor. To mark the occasion this year, Chapala’s DIF family development center hosted a big celebration for the community’s elders on Friday, August 30.
