The Canadian Veterans Support Association (CVSA) held its fourth annual Canada Day celebration Tuesday, July 1, at El Pilar Bistro in Riberas del Pilar – drawing an enthusiastic crowd of over 80 attendees. The event, filled with patriotic spirit and camaraderie, welcomed both Canadians, Mexicans and Americans, with many attendees donning clothing adorned with Canadian flags and patriotic slogans.

What happens when an elderly foreign resident at Lakeside becomes physically or mentally incapacitated and has no local next of kin or close friends able to assume responsibility for their care?
A case in point is that of Kathryn B., a U.S. citizen who has resided in Ajijic since 2021.
On Wednesday, June 18, she was evicted from a local hotel for non-payment of lodging fees. She was promptly picked up off the street with her meager belongings by Chapala police. Her only form of identification was a Lake Chapala Society (LCS) membership card.
Cruz Roja Chapala (CRC) welcomed dozens of guests to its June 24 Open House, offering a look at the progress on its new headquarters and encouraging donations to help complete the project.
