Chapala’s Los Güeros Motorcycle Club and American Legion Post 7 are co-sponsors of this year’s Christmas Toy Run, which will distribute gifts to children ages 10 to 14 at the Poco a Poco Community Center in San Pedro Itzicán on December 20.

The Lake Chapala Society’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program hosted its first annual Children’s Christmas Party (Fiesta de Navidad) on November 29, bringing together 20 children, their parents, and dedicated volunteer teachers for a festive afternoon of lively games, a visit from Santa, and plenty of pizza to share.

But what if hope feels naive, or impossible, given the state of the world? This Sunday, we explore the difference between wishing for hope and the spiritual discipline of practicing hope in dark times. Can we cultivate hope when it’s needed the most?
