Welcome to 2016
The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau is hard at work, kicking off the New Year by promoting a range of exciting events in and around the Northshore area. Here’s a look at what’s coming up in January. Mark your calendars.
Dinner/theater
Amigos de La Cruz Players are holding open auditions for the murder/mystery, dinner/theater presentation of “Girls Night Out” on February 23, 24 and 28, and tentatively March 1.
Beach Bags
Over the summer, large, upturned plastic bottles were fixed to poles at the seven beach accesses between the arroyo, which marks the south side of Bucerias centro, to the Decameron Resort Complex, at the southern edge of the city. The aim is to keep these “containers” filled with plastic shopping bags, like the ones used to package purchases at area supermarkets.
Bucerias Art Walk
The Mexican Tourism Department (Sectur) recently sponsored a contest to find “Mexico’s 100 Musts.”
Altruism Festival
Paraiso Felino, the no-kill cat shelter in the northshore inland town of San Juan, will again be one of the 24 Vallarta-area community service organizations to benefit from the annual International Altruism Festival, set for May 17 at the Hotel Marriott, in cooperation with Kelly Trainor, the U.S. consular agent in Puerto Vallarta.
