The U.S. Consulate in Guadalajara has signed an agreement with the Jalisco State Government to assist with the modernization of traffic control in the metropolitan area.  Under the agreement, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) will finance a study to detect and analyze the most conflictive and congested areas of the city for traffic.

Almost 600,000 people flooded into the Hermosa Provincia neighborhood of Guadalajara last week for the funeral of Samuel Joaquin Flores, the leader of the Luz del Mundo evangelical church who died on Monday, December 8 aged 77.

Downtown Guadalajara has been transformed into a winter wonderland, with a large tree, sledding  slope, ice skating rink, nativity scene and Ferris wheel installed in the Plaza Liberacion.

A man who caused the death of his nine-month old baby by leaving him for eight hours in the backseat of his car has been released, following the refusal of his wife to press charges.

The Hospital Infantil Mi Gran Esperanza, Mexico’s first specialist hospital for children with cancer, is 80 percent complete and will open its doors next year in Tlajomulco, says its director Dr. Luis Antonio Alanís Villareal.
