Cardinal denounces women’s strike

Even though pro-Catholic, conservative politicians have given it their backing, one of Guadalajara’s most senior religious figures has condemned the national “Day without Women” strike scheduled for Tuesday, March 9, because of its ties to feminist, pro-choice organizations.

US consulate issues warning after extradition of cartel boss’ son

The U.S. consulate general in Guadalajara issued a pre-emptive warning of possible retaliation and public disturbance in the metropolitan area following the February 20 extradition of Ruben Oseguera-Gonzalez, alias  “El Menchito,” who is the son of Nemesio “Mencho” Oseguera-Cervantes, the alleged leader of the powerful Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
