Latest stage of Mayan Tourist Train opens

February 29, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador inaugurated the 50.1-kilometer “Section Five” of the Maya Tourist Train, running from the Cancún Airport to Playa del Carmen. For the time being, there are three daily departures from the airport to Playa del Carmen, at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Thousands gather in rallies for democracy

A crowd of around 40,000 gathered in Guadalajara on Sunday, February 18 for the “March for Democracy,” a protest criticizing the president’s attacks on autonomous oversight agencies and to demand free and fair elections, replicated more 110 cities across Mexico, as well as in the United States and Spain.

Consulate to offer voter assistance workshops

For guidance on how U.S. citizens residing in Mexico can vote in the 2024 elections, representatives of the Guadalajara Consulate General will conduct voter assistance workshops to be held Monday, February 26 on the grounds of the Lake Chapala Society, Calle 16 de Septiembre 16-A in Ajijic.
