Naval personnel from the 12th Naval Zone rescued 108 baby sea turtle hatchlings at Puerto Vallarta’s Los Muertos beach during patrols tied to Operation Lifeguard Summer 2026.

Authorities in Jalisco are searching for Sammy Daniel Pérez Rojas, a 34-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He was last seen in Puerto Vallarta on July 31.

Mexico has begun phasing in a higher cruise passenger fee, with the “Non-Resident Duty” doubling from US$5 to US$10 as of August 1. Two more increases are scheduled: the fee will rise to U$15 in July 2027 and reach US$21 in August 2028, where it will remain through September 2030.

Jalisco Environment Secretary Paola Bauche Petersen has dismissed claims of crocodile overpopulation in Puerto Vallarta, stating that there are no more than 300 specimens in the entire area.
