PV-Barra coastal road to get upgrade

Anyone who has driven along Jalisco’s coastal Highway 200 between Puerto Vallarta and  Barra de Navidad will be aware that the 224-kilometer trip can turn into  a windy, tortuous slog – especially if one gets stuck behind slow-moving traffic on the two-lane road..   


Hurricane season underway

The 2014 Pacific hurricane season officially started on May 15 and will end on November 30.  The season has almost gotten off to an early start, with a cluster of thunderstorms festering off the coast this month.

Vallarta may get pet friendly beach

Red Parque Caninos, which has pioneered the opening of two parks in Guadalajara designed exclusively for dogs, has focused its eyes on Puerto Vallarta, where it hopes to create a “pet friendly” beach.

Drunk school bus driver detained

Police have arrested a driver of a school bus in Puerto Vallarta who was transporting 31 children while heavily inebriated. The bus was registered to the municipality and the driver, Alfredo Solis, was a city employee.
