Banamex up for sale

U.S. investment bank and financial services corporation Citigroup has announced the pending sale of its Mexican retail banking business, Banamex, which reportedly has assets of around US$70 billion.


Mexico approves Cuba’s Covid vaccine

President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador defended Mexico’s federal health regulator, Cofepris (Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios), after the institution approved the Abdalá Covid-19 vaccine developed by Cuba.

AMLO tests positive again

Despite getting his Astra Zeneca booster jab on December 7, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time. 

No vaccines planned for under 15s

Even though children as young as 5 years of age are getting anti Covid jabs in many countries, Mexico is not considering including anyone under 15 years of age in its inoculation program, Deputy Health Minister Hugo López-Gatell confirmed this week.
