At the Movies: 5 Bravo

Four paramedics on duty in Arizona intercept a distress call from Mexico. Training kicks in as they illegally cross the border to help. Suddenly trapped inside their own ambulance, nothing could prepare them for what they would encounter. If you like “reality” shows, you might like this movie.

Shot in Mexico with an cast from both nations, it shows the good, bad and ugly of the drug wars along the border and how it affects people of all stripes and occupations on both sides.

While the actors aren’t exactly top notch, and the direction is a bit over the top, the “reality” is grim enough to make it seem somewhat real. The dialog is split between English and Spanish as might be expected of a border-themed film.

Director: Kuno Becker. Cast: Rául Méndez, Kuno Becker, John Henry Richardoson, Dan Rovsar, Shalim Ortiz, Sofía Sisniega, Genaro Hernández, Aurora Papil. No Rating. Time: 1:24.
