At Eternity’s Gate

Who doesn’t appreciate the forlorn and whistful Vincent van Gogh?

In this film adaptation, viewers immerse themselves in the artist’s troubled world when he lived in Arles and Auvers-sur-Oise in France. Also, the resemblance between Dafoe and van Gogh is uncanny. Director: Julian Schnabel. Cast: Willem Dafoe, Rupert Friend and Oscar Isaac. Rated: PG-13. Time: 1:51.

The Hatred

Never spend time with your college professor is what this movie teaches you. Four young students make this mistake when they go to their teacher’s rural country home for the weekend. In the end, they discover the property’s malevolent past. Despite the bad reviews, sometimes the cringeworthiness is entertaining. Director: Michael G. Kehoe. Cast: Sarah Davenport, Andrew Divoff and Darby Walker. Rated: R. Time: 1:30.

Look Away

This Canadian psychological thriller demonstrates what happens when you look into the mirror for too long. Alienated high school student Maria literally becomes her sinister alter-ego, obviously turning her life upside down in the process. Director: Assaf Bernstein. Cast: India Eisley, Mira Sorvino and Jason Isaacs. Rated: R. Time: 1:43.
