Famed flutist Horacio Franco guest directs and performs in a “Barroque Philharmonic” program. Pieces include Handel’s “The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba,” “Music for the Royal Fireworks” and “Water Music.” Franco interprets his own arrangement of Bach’s “Concert for Flute,” played on the recorder, as well as two concertos from Vivaldi’s “The Contest Between Harmony and Invention.”

JPO Musical Director Marco Parisotto returns for the final program of the summer season: the second homage to Richard Strauss. Israeli-born cellist Matt Haimovitz is the invited guest for Schumann’s “Cello Concerto in A minor,” Op. 129.
