Martes de Musica
Free classical performances by talented musicians are held each Tuesday at the Degollado Theater. No tickets are sold – just turn up.

Miercoles de Danza
Free dance recitals by accomplished troupes are scheduled each Wednesday.

Thursday recitals
The Guadalajara council chamber opens its doors to Thursday recitals and concerts.

The Vienna Boys Choir
Famous children’s choir from Austria returns to the city for the fourth time, now with two Mexican youngsters among its ranks.

Mariachi Festival galas
Nightly galas at the regal Degollado Theater featuring the best mariachi bands in the business are a highlight of the Guadalajara International Mariachi Festival from August 28-September 7.  Emotions run high as  the likes of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, América de Don Jesús Rodríguez de Hijar, Nuevo Tecalitlán and Los Camperos de Nati Cano are accompanied by the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO).  (Note: The JPO will not perform in the Tuesday, September 2 show).

Los Angeles Azules Sinfonico
Band from Iztapalapa (Mexico City) has attracted a wide fan base after taking the cumbia genre to another level, adding symphonic and rock accompaniment.  Appearing with the band at this concert – part of the International Mariachi Festival schedule – are Mexican rock stars Denisse Lo Blondo and Jay de La Cueva.

Iradia Noriega and the Groovy Band
First in a new series of monthly Wednesday gigs, “Miércoles Alternativo,”  to be held on this UdG stage located inside its Spanish Language School campus.  Iradia Noriega and the Groovy Band play a fusion of jazz, funk, soul and rap. Coming up  on October 15 is Canadian jazz virtuoso Elizabeth Shepherd.

Homage to Alberto Escobar
Well-known names in Mexican folk music gather for this tribute to Tapatio composer and musician Alberto Escobar, the author the acclaimed song “”Coincidir.” Artists appearing include Guadalupe Pineda, David Filio and Sergio Félix of Mexicanto, Alejandro Segovia, Fernando Quintana, Fernando and hometown favorite Paco Padilla.

UDG Ballet Folklorico
Summer season of famed Universidad de Guadalajara Ballet Folklorico troupe continues.

God Save the Queen
Called by Rolling Stone the “best tribute band in the world,” God Save the Queen returns to Guadalajara to interpret the legendary songs of British rock group Queen. Fans can hear classics such as “We Will Rock You,” “Another One Bites the Dust” and “Bohemian Rhapsody,” played with uncanny similarity to the originals.
