Mexican musical gala to benefit lakeside children’s shelter

A razzle-dazzle musical dinner show will take place Thursday, April 14, at Chapala’s Palapa del Guayabo restaurant as a special event to help finance the purchase of a permanent facility for La Ola Casa Hogar.

Founded in 2010 by Becky and Bob Plinke, La Ola is a shelter for children who have suffered abandonment, abuse and other hardships in their young years. The home is currently located at a rental property in Jocotepec.

“Seeing what these fantastic people are accomplishing made me want to get more involved, helping them however I could,” explains event organizer Bob Nipper. My girlfriend and I decided to plan a fundraiser and asked one of the best singers in all of Mexico if she would be willing to do a benefit show. Her name is Azucena, one of the stars of Noche a Noche, a musical variety show filmed at Channel 4 in Guadalajara. She said ‘Yes’ and is so excited about helping these orphans that she has been announcing the show on the air.”

Azucena will be accompanied by the Alas de Mexico Mariachi, performing after the 5 p.m. opening act by Lulu, another talented of vocalist.

The donation for attending is 500 pesos per person, including the price for dinner. Tickets are on sale at Mia’s Boutique and Diane Pearl’s in Ajijic. For further information call Donaldo at Cell 331-336-9340.
