Casa del Sol Inn is about to launch its newest show and this one will feature a trio of artists from Guadalajara: Gabriel Mariscal Fuentes and his two colleagues, José Ramon Vázquez and Miguel Méndez Bernal.
“I am calling it ‘Tres Hombres with One Brush,” says Susie Quiriconi, the curator at the boutique hotel.
Méndez and Vázquez met while students at the Jesuit ITESO university in Guadalajara and quickly became friends. Fuentes came into their lives when Vazquez was introduced to him at an art opening in Guadalajara in 1987. Since then the trio have been linked in a variety of ways. The show being presented at Casa del Sol Inn was staged two years ago at Galeria Oculto in Guadalajara. And they are thrilled to be coming to lakeside to share their work as a collection and to spend time with our thriving art community.
Vázquez owns Galeria Ajolote, a contemporary gallery in Guadalajara, and for 25 years has concentrated on presenting emerging artists.
“It has been hard to keep up with this kind of work,” he says. “Art is a science, in that it is always shifting. I represent work that is new, positive and different.”
