Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) will host its annual Volunteer Open House, showcasing the myriad opportunities available to anyone interested in getting involved in live theater, Saturday, August 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“For every actor who appears on stage, there are often as many as four other volunteers behind the scenes making it all happen, and having a lot of fun together. You don’t need to know anything. We’ll train you,” explained LLT Open House Coordinator Amanda Timmis.
Volunteer opportunities include stage design/construction/painting, make-up, costumes, publicity (including writing, graphic design, and managing social media), sound, lighting, props, staffing the ticket and refreshment booths, and scanning the tickets of attendees as they arrive.
Experienced volunteers from each of these areas will be on hand to answer questions.
Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to join a tour of the entire theater. Light refreshments will be served.
“I had never even stepped into a theater’s tech booth,” said volunteer Edgar Antonio, “and now I’m operating and even designing the lights. It’s very exciting, very rewarding, and I’ve met so many wonderful people who have become my friends.”
The event is free and registration begins at 10:30 a.m.
