LLT opera season opens with ‘Cosi fan tutte’

Mozart’s opera “Cosí fan tutte,” the first of seven Metropolitan Opera telecasts at Lakeside Little Theatre in the 2026-2027 season, will be shown on Monday, October 12, at 4 p.m. in LLT’s McIntosh Auditorium.

pg13bWith gorgeous melodies and hilarious hijinks, this satirical comedy of fickle young love is one of the composer’s most sublime works. The opera, which debuted in 1790, was originally set in Naples. The Met’s current version is inspired by Coney Island in the 1950s. It is set at a boardwalk amusement park, where the two pairs of lovers at the heart of the tale find themselves on one emotional — and literal — thrill ride after another. The New York Times calls the staging “colorful, inventive.”

Soprano Federica Lombardi and mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey sing Fiordiligi and Dorabella, opposite tenor Duke Kim and baritone Andrey Zhilikhovsky as Ferrando and Guglielmo. Bass-baritone Gerald Finley reprises his portrayal of the cynical Don Alfonso, with soprano Ana María Martínez as the witty maid Despina. The opera is sung in Italian with English subtitles.

Reserved seats are 350 pesos, with a 100-peso discount for Mexican citizens with an INE card. Tickets are available online at lakesidelittletheatre.com or at the box office before the show.
