Four imposing stone figures created during last January’s open-air sculptors’ workshop are now on permanent display along the western leg of Chapala’s waterfront Malecón.

Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) certainly chose an excellent show to open its 51st season. “Murder by Misadventure,” directed by Debra Bowers, is a mystery full of suspense and clever twists and turns, which grabs and then grips the audience’s attention throughout.

Brotherhood and poetry will be the main themes of the third Sangre Viva (Living Blood) Festival this weekend on the Ajijic plaza.

“Queen Xochitl, the woman with the golden velvety skin came to bathe in the enchanted water hole … Alone in her meditations, she heard the musical sound of a drop of water falling from the grotto ceiling, ‘Xic Xic.’

An extravaganza of music, dance, theater, handicrafts and customs derived from Mexico’s ancient roots will take the forefront during the Festival Cultural Sangre Viva to be held October 9 through 11 at the Ajijic plaza.

The back-to-back inaugurations of a museum display of archeological relics and the newly refurbished theater stage were highlights of the kick-off of a series of special events programmed for the tail end of September by Efren González, out-going director of the Centro Cultural de Ajijic (CCA).
