Ajijic is honored to have one of Jalisco’s leading youth Mariachi organizations, led by Maestro Daniel Medeles and a team of professional musician facilitators. Come hear these talented young musicians perform traditional music and even a holiday favorite or two!
Holiday art and crafts
• The Artists of Lake Chapala invite you to their Art Show Saturday, December 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cultural Center located on the carretera (main road) in La Floresta. Tacos, drinks, and coffee will be available for purchase. Free entrance.
• Art Fest Ajijic, when Centro Laguna Mall comes alive with art exhibitions, handcrafted jewelry, delicious take-home food and wellness products — all made by talented local creators — is on Sunday, December 21, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

• The Regional Center for Musical Studies (CREM) presents a Winter Gala concert to celebrate its 35th anniversary, 6 p.m. at the Centro para la Cultura y las Artes de la Ribera in La Floresta. Both the orchestra and choruses will perform. Tickets are 250 pesos in advance and 300 pesos at the door.

Opera
Lakeside Little Theatre (LLT) hosts the third of its eight-production New York Met opera season, Richard Strauss’ acclaimed “Arabella,” Monday, December 22, 4 p.m. The opera is sung in German and presented with English subtitles.

Dance
The Hernández Dancers (Joven Ballet HH) will perform the suite from the ballet The Nutcracker at the Auditorio de la Ribera on Friday, December 19, at 4 p.m.
The performance will feature over 100 dancers on stage, including performers from Joven Ballet HH, the Free Municipal Ballet Schools of Guadalajara, and the Escuela del Auditorio de la Ribera. The show will also include five additional pieces with themes outside of The Nutcracker, for a total duration of 90 minutes.
