Ballet star to grace Degollado

On July 7 and 8, Guadalajara ballet fans will get a second chance to marvel at the talents of Elisa Carrillo Cabrera, the Mexican-born first ballerina at the Berlin Opera Ballet (Staatsballett Berlin).
A big collection of small drawings and a smattering of other works by celebrated Oaxacan artist Francisco Toledo are on display at the University of Guadalajara’s Museo de las Artes until September 2.
The official unveiling of the painting “Festival de Uniones” by Veronica Yazmin took place at the United States Consulate in Guadalajara on Thursday.
Seven renowned magicians – Dan Sperry, Brett Daniels, Jeff McBride, Mark Kalin, Jinger Leigh, Andrew Basso and Mexico’s Joaquin Kotkin – come together for a series of spectacular shows.
Having previously worked with the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) as a guest conductor, Alondra de la Parra makes her official debut as artistic director at the Teatro Degollado this weekend.
The group that many hail as Mexico’s best folk dancers is set to kick off its 2012 summer season, back in the Teatro Degollado.
