Tradition with a twist. This is what audience members can expect at Los Cantantes del Lago’s spring concert next week, featuring Mariachi Real Axixic.
Delightful strains of traditional Mexican music will fill the air when nine local musicians congregate at the kick-off event for the 17th Encuentro de Arpas, Salterios y Mas Wednesday, March 27, 6 p.m. at Cafe Galeria Inspira (Av. Madero 228, Chapala). There is no charge, although the cafe will appreciate any orders.
Internationally recognized mandolinist Alon Sariel will perform at Viva la Musica’s final spring concert Thursday, March 28, 7 p.m. in the Haus der Musik.
Following their sold out Christmas concert last December, the Lake Chapala Community Orchestra takes to the stage once again on Sunday, March 31, 3 p.m. with “The Sound of Movies.”
Being occupied with my own life in Guadalajara, for many years I was only peripherally aware of the cultural life going on at Lakeside, except for the occasional concert I played there.
Tony-Award winning entertainer Levi Kreis gives four presentations of “O’ Canada,” focused on tunes made famous by Canadian musical stars, at The Spotlight Club, Friday and Saturday, February 22 and 23, at 4 and 7 p.m.
February the 13th falls on a Wednesday next week (thankfully not a Friday), so that seems an appropriate day to attend a concert entitled “The End of the World,” part of the Northern Lights Festival de Febrero.
