Four of Jalisco’s most accomplished sculptors gathered at the Chapala waterfront early Tuesday, January 6 to begin chiseling out giant blocks of cantera stone that will be transformed over two week´s time into monuments revolving around themes of Lake Chapala and water conservation.

The JPO opens its first season of 2015 with a concert featuring acclaimed Mexican pianist Jorge Federico Osorio interpreting works by Brahms. Teatro Degollado, Friday, January 16, 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, January 18, 12:30 p.m. 110-300 pesos.
The Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra (JPO) has a big year ahead. 2015 marks “100 Years of Orchestral Tradition in Jalisco,” as JPO publicity calls its celebration of the establishment in 1915 by the illustrious José Rolón of a group of musicians playing symphony and chamber music.
Pianist Jorge Federico Osorio, who performs at the Teatro Degollado on January 16 and 18 with the Jalisco Philarmonic Orchestra, has been described by the Los Angeles Times as “one of the more elegant and accomplished pianists on the planet.”
