1. Chapala is the biggest town on Lake Chapala, founded in 1510 by Chapalac, the chief of the Tecuexe tribe.
Chapala was actually founded and settled before its more gargantuan sister city, Guadalajara, some say largely by early Chapalans. And Tapatios to this day cause traffic jams here in hot months as a snarky protest.
