Don’t worry, be happy

According to news sources, President López Obrador is preparing an “alternative index” to Mexico’s GDP that will measure people’s happiness and well-being to show a positive contrast to current slouching economic growth.

The Happiness Index originated from the Bhutanese Gross National Happiness Index in 1972. This is why Bhutan will never be asked to join the G7.  Things like wealth, comfort and economic growth define poor and miserable Bhutanese by this index. I’m guessing that these poor folks may get government buskers showing up at their houses every week to sing, “If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands.”

The Bhutanese inspired the Global Happiness Council, “an international group of independent academic happiness specialists.” Now, there’s a group you want to have around during your first divorce.
