In response to two separate complaints of animal cruelty registered last week, Chapala’s ecology office took swift action to rescue three adult dogs and four newborn puppies found to be living in squalid conditions without adequate food or medical care.

The animal rights group Igualdad Animal Mexico is asking citizens to join them to protest the use of animals in circuses.

Around 100 activists protest the use of animal acts in circuses on Saturday, July 12. The demonstration took place outside a circus in the Guadalajara municipality. Zapopan city hall has previously banned the practice.
