Each year the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) holds a month-long series of charity games.
The ACBL awards more masterpoints for participants in these games, and, in turn, participants pay an extra fee as their support for the charities. Two weeks’ worth of the extra funds go to ACBL nominated charities and two weeks’ worth of the funds go to a charity chosen by the local bridge club.
This year, the Lake Chapala Bridge Club chose the Chapala Cruz Roja (Red Cross) as the recipient of their charity funds, just as it did last year. The 2012 donation to Cruz Roja is 5,000 pesos, and though some might not see it as a large one, it is given with thanks for the efforts of the staff of Cruz Roja and the many volunteers who work all year round to protect the health and safety of the entire Lakeside Community.
