The Club de Niños Felices de Ajijic (Happy Kids Club) thanks everyone who helped make possible their recent trip to the Guadalajara Zoo. For many of the 38 children who took part, it was their first time outside the Lake Chapala area, and it was the first time visiting the Zoo for all of them.
The trip was a reward for picking up trash every Saturday since April in the streets of Ajijic. Currently the children are on hiatus to get ready to go back to school, and will resume their trash pick up efforts on the Saturday following September 16.
The Club de Niños Felices de Ajijic was started by Andrea Garcia and her husband Antonio Gonzalez, who make sure the 50 to 60 kids are fed after their Saturday labors. For some of them, this is their only meal of the day.
