Ajijic pier restaurant revival back on track (2)

The National Water Commission (Conagua), through its regional headquarters in Guadalajara, has endorsed the cosmetic makeover of the elevated structure attached to the east side of the Ajijic pier.

The remodeling of the long-abandoned restaurant being undertaken by Guadalajara entrepreneur Hector Fabio Rizzo Jasso and his business associates was temporarily put on hold after the municipal government demanded proof of Conagua’s approval for carrying out construction work in the lakefront’s Federal Zone.

Rizzo made the rounds at city hall on Monday, August 24 to deliver copies of the requisite document – detailing exact specifications of the project – to the mayor’s front desk and the office of the Urban Development Department.

Although the red tape has put the revival of the former Tequila Republic eatery slightly behind schedule, Rizzo told the Reporter that the new dining spot should be ready for an opening in early October. He promised that customers will be delighted with a varied menu offering top grade meat, seafood and regional specialties, along with outstanding service and affordable prices.  The brand name of the bistro, however, still remains a closely guarded secret.
