Feria de Maestros is shopper’s paradise

The Feria Maestros del Arte, which takes place from Friday, November 13 through Sunday, November 15 at the Club de Yates de Chapala (Ramon Corona 1, Chapala), is not just a once-a-year event designed to give Mexican folk and indigenous artists a place to sell their art.

During the show’s 14-year history, it has become a major vehicle in assisting the artists to network amongst themselves and inspire them to find new outlets and venues for sales.

Each year, more gallery and store buyers and collectors come to Lake Chapala to attend this event. And each year the attendance of Mexican shoppers and buyers grows – with the 2014 show topping all former tallies.

This year, each attendee will receive a tote bag emblazoned with the Feria Maestros del Arte and Megacable logos.

Guadalajara cable company Megacable is this year’s major sponsor. They are already broadcasting commercials about the event.

Other novelties this year include salsa tastings on Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m.  Linda Harley of Ajijic and Agustin Vasquez of Viva Mexico Restaurant in San Juan Cosala will be on hand to share their skills.

Shoppers all three days of the Feria can enjoy wine and tequila tasting. And once buyers whet their appetites, they can take a break and relax over lunch while enjoying the entertainment.

Each artist attending the show donates a piece of their work to be raffled off during the Feria. Half the proceeds go to the Chapala Cruz Roja and half stay with the Feria to be used as start-up funds for the following year’s event. Raffle winners will receive an array of wonderful prizes.

The 2015 Feria Maestros del Arte will offer something to entice every browser. There will be booths of jewelry, clothing, wood carvings, all types of ceramics, hand-woven rugs, shoes made with Oaxacan fabrics, Panama hats, Catrinas and much more.

Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 50 pesos admission. For more information, contact Marianne Carlson (376)765-7485, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
