Mural marks Garden Club’s 40th year

A new mural has been officially unveiled on the frontage of “Luz” (better known as the “Dollar Store”) on the Ajijic Plaza. Featuring a charming little girl with flowing hair leaping through a cloud of flowers, the mural celebrates the Lake Chapala Garden Club’s 40th birthday.

The work, sponsored by the Garden Club, was created by local artist Isidro Xiloti.

‘’My thanks to the Lake Chapala Garden Club for choosing us,” said store owner Juan Manuel Briones. “We are so happy to offer our shop front to mark their 40 years of achievement. The new mural has been a great boost for our business. We are now a big attraction for tourists with their cameras.”

Judie Keck, president of the Lake Chapala Garden Club said: “We are delighted to say it with flowers. This gorgeous mural will have a lasting impact for our community, which has supported us so joyfully for four decades.”

Beto Muñoz, director of the Centro Cultural Ajijic, said Xiloti has created some of the finest murals to be seen in the area. “He was certainly the best choice of artist for the job.”
