Golfers to chip in for Red Cross ambulance

Proceeds from the 15th Annual Golf Classic benefiting  Cruz Roja Chapala (CRC) will go into the kitty to purchase a new ambulance for the community’s most vital emergency medical service clinic.

pg9cThe tournament will be held Thursday, November 8, at the Country Club de Chapala in Vista del Lago,

CRC needs to raise 1.2 million pesos to acquire the new ambulance. The clinic currently responds to an average of 180 ambulance calls every month with only two vehicles in good mechanical condition.

The tournament is open to up to 100 players entered as singles, pairs and foursomes who will tee off at holes around the course with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Prizes offered for holes-in-one, longest drives and closest to the pin shots include a golf cart and a Toyota hybrid model.

The individual entry fee of 1,500 pesos covers cart rental, a goodie bag, continental breakfast and a mixed grill BBQ dinner. Spectators may purchase tickets for the dinner priced at 300 pesos. The deadline for registrations at the country club pro shop is November 3. Dinner tickets are also available at Yoly’s Salon at Plaza Bugambilias in Ajijic.

All players and guests will be eligible to win dozens of great door prizes. Items up for bid in the silent auction include a golf weekend at Isla Navidad, accommodations in a Puerto Vallarta condo, a polished repoussé bas-relief plaque by Stephany Andrews, a heavy silver bracelet by Estela Hidalgo, an original watercolor by Enrique Velázquez and two glass vases by Ana Roma.
