A happy Thanksgiving... without the mess

Lakesiders have so many options for a Thanksgiving day meal that it almost doesn’t make sense to cook and face the mountain of dishes afterward.

But if you do decide to do it at home, order your turkey now from Puritan Poultry, 765-4399, which also carries various holiday groceries. Also check out Pancho’s Deli-Market for holiday items, both fresh and boxed. Pick up cheeses and wines at La Vid, next to the Waffle House, (376)108-1887, and order your pies and cakes from chefs Georgina and Peter, 765-4412 or pick up their wares at the Farmer’s Market Tuesday at La Huerta Events in West Ajijic.

But if you just want the culinary treat without the hassle, here are some options the Reporter recommends to fit every purse and appetite.

La Nueva Posada puts on the Ritz in spectacular form with two seatings: 1:30 and 5:30 p.m., 766-1444. Armando’s Hideaway offers intimate dining for a lovely Thanksgiving meal, 766-2229. Los Telares offers salad and dessert bars as well as a full traditional Thanksgiving dinner throughout the day and music from Mariana Vigueras from 6 to 8 p.m., 766-0428. Don Pedro is offering free beverages with your Thanksgiving dinner from 2 to 8 p.m., 766-4906. Roberto’s starts off with lobster and shrimp bisque and then offers a variety of main courses including turkey, ham, salmon or pork chops, from 2 to 7 p.m., 766-1616. Southern Sisters in West Ajijic will have music at 3 p.m. and a meal to follow, (376)688-1525. Panino’s in Riberas del Pilar is for early birds — 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until sold out; no reservations. Elegante’s five-course elegant meal with four choices of entrees served from 2 to 6 p.m. was almost sold out at press time, 766-1066. Casino Foliatti’s simple fare of turkey, mashed potatoes, salad and a glass of wine begins 4 p.m., no reservations. American Legion Post 7 in Chapala will have live entertainment by Louis Andrade, a social hour at 1 p.m. and a home-cooked-style dinner at 2 p.m., 765-2259. Manix’s two seatings are both sold out, 766-0061; Bobby’s Terraza is almost sold out, (376)108-2309. Yves’ closes that day. Other options are La Bodega and Arileo.

If you’re headed to Guadalajara for the day, Aderezzo restaurant, corner of Avenida Chapultepec and Guadalupe Zuno offers a typical Thanksgiving meal daily on through December 30, (33)3630-5460.

May God bless your table, whereever you dine next Thursday.
