The Culinary Arts Society (CASA) enjoyed a seafood feast Monday, November 11. About 40 members dined on some fantastic seafood and shellfish main dishes, and for dessert were treated to custards, flans and mousses.
Carol Westbrook took first place and the presentation award in the dessert category for her peach custard pie; Geanie Tiley won second place for a blackberry brandy chocolate mousse; Roberta Kalan won third for a classic vanilla flan bundt and Lydia Cortes took the people’s choice award for her “favorite flan.”
In the seafood category, Laure Hilden won first place, presentation and people’s choice for a lemon pesto shrimp dish; Janet Jorch took second place for Hal’s 2013 ceviche with tacos and toast and Michele Lococo won third place for her Mexican cod over risotto.
Next month, CASA meets for a holiday celebration December 16 at the Hotel Montecarlo in Chapala, when the competition is holiday botanas and desserts. A meal will also be presented. Information: ajijiccasa.org.
