A Thanksgiving Mass has been tentatively planned at San Andres Catholic Church in Ajijic on Saturday, November 14, 7 p.m., in recognition of the 50th anniversary of David Huff, of Ajijic, as a Catholic Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (Covid-19 restrictions allowing).
Huff was approved and commissioned by the Most Rev. Charles Helmsing, Bishop of Kansas City-St. Joseph, on November 7, 1970 and installed as the first Eucharistic Minister for his parish of St. Francis Xavier in St. Joseph, Missouri, on November 8. In his career with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Prisons, he was transferred to various duty stations across the country, and so subsequently ministered at parishes in four additional Catholic dioceses within the United States.
