Walt Whitman one said, “Do I contradict myself? Very well, then I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes.” The Internal Family Systems model suggest that we all contain multitudes of personalities, parts, in our psyches, and further, that some parts may be suppressed or excited as a result of past harmful experiences. We’ll explore the implications of thinking of ourselves as internally diverse, and how we might integrate our parts, including the exiled ones to become whole people.
Michael Swords is the service associate.
Sunday service is at noon, at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s new location at San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar.

Heritage Baptist Church
God’s Word is written for us, sufficient and inerrant for admonishing and teaching. Heritage is working through the book of Hebrews in our Sunday services, led by Pastor John Linton. We can see that the writer of this New Testament book draws heavily from the wisdom of the Old Testament to create enlightening parallels.
As a good example, Melchizedek is mentioned in Genesis 14, a Messianic Psalm, and Hebrews, foreshadowing Jesus’ incarnation on earth. The idea is to bring the spiritual anchor to Christ. The Prince of Peace is superior to the angels, Abraham, and Melchizedek, (who was also appointed by God). And it’s Christ alone to whom we cling. He is our anchor and the only one who can bring righteousness and glory to those who love Him.
Why study the Old Testament at all? Because that’s what the Bible does: It brings lessons from the past into the present day. After all, there’s nothing new under the sun, according to Ecclesiastes 1:9.
Our burgeoning church has a wonderful new home for Sunday 10:30 a.m. services at the Chapala American Legion. All are welcome. Email HertitageBaptistChurchMexic @gmail.com or visit hbcmx.org or Facebook for more information.

Lakeside Presbyterian
Sunday, July 21, the sermon is on “The King of Glory,” Text—John 19:1-16.
During the time of the Judges, there was no King in Israel. Though God was their king, their disobedience caused a chaotic period until they eventually transitioned to a human monarchy. The first king was Saul, who was more than a bit crazy. Then came David, a murderer and adulterer. Indeed, nearly all the Kings of Israel were evil, and only a few in Judah were good. What God was not able to accomplish through human kings, he finally did with his own son Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
In our verses, Jesus, the true King, undergoes a mocking coronation and a twisted elevation to a cross that is his ultimate throne.
The English-language service is at 9:30 a.m., which also streams live at facebook.com/LPCChapala. Everyone is welcome to Wednesday drop-in Bible study. Calle San Jorge 250 in Riberas del Pilar, just south of Mom’s Restaurant, toward the lake.
