Heritage Baptist Church
How do we know the Bible is true?
The hundreds of Old Testament prophecies regarding the birth, life, death and ascension of Christ are tried and true reasons for trusting the Bible. These verses, breathed out through God’s Holy Spirit, contain so many details which were later fulfilled that there is no question of their supernatural validity. Many of them focus on the advent of our Lord’s birth, foreseeing the Messiah’s incarnation, which is why most Christians love and adore the Advent season.
God always keeps His promises. We can see the evidence of God’s kept promises in Scripture, and in our own spiritual blossoming and answered prayers. Remain steadfast, believers! Remember and trust in the promises of our Creator.
Join us at the American Legion, Chapala. Sundays at 10:30. Starting with a Prayer meeting at 10 a.m.
Heritage offers two special Old-Time Carol Singalongs this year. All are welcome.

Eckankar
Everything revolves around love. It always does. No matter how much we rush about in this world and how harried, ambitious, or sorrowful we become, the world stays together for some reason. The reason is God’s love. It makes the whole work, even though sometimes it looks like nothing is working at all.
The two supreme laws are: God is love, and Soul exists because God loves it.
But how do you make this work out in everyday life? Whenever you’re in doubt about any action, ask yourself: Is it true? Is it necessary? Is it Kind? You can also ask, What would love do?
Everyone has some experience with love—even a child who has a pet kitten or a dog. Soul is trying, to give back or respond to God’s love that’s coming through. (The above text is from Spiritual Wisdom on Relationships by Harold Klemp.)
You are invited to meet with other like-minded Souls for open non-denominational spiritual discussions Tuesdays, 2 to 3:15 p.m. at Lake Chapala Society.

Rev. Matt Alspaugh presents “What Does a Good Day Look Like?” Sunday, December 15, noon at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.

We’ll explore this question, “What Does a Good Day Look Like?,” not just in the context of end of life, but in the larger sense of how our good days define a good life.
Ted Fahy is the service associate.
Sunday service is at noon, at the Lake Chapala Unitarian Universalist Fellowship’s new location at San Luis 19 in Riberas del Pilar and online. See lakechapalauu.org for a Zoom link.

Sermon title for Sunday, December 15, is “My Soul Glorifies the Lord” from Luke 1:46-55.
The Virgin Mary is the most famous woman who ever lived. But did you know that she wrote a song? The “Madonna” of our current era is a stupendously famous songwriter and singer who has sold the equivalent of 250 million albums. But the original Madonna of 2,000 years ago wrote a love song to God that continues to be sung to this day. We will study the Virgin Mary’s compelling lyrics in Pastor Carolyn’s sermon on December 15.
