Reproductions of artwork created by children in the Efrén González Children’s Art Program will be available for purchase on Saturday, December 21, at Centro Laguna Mall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This special Christmas edition of the Art Connection’s Art in the Plaza exhibition features delightful art cards and Christmas cards crafted by the children. A portion of all proceeds will go to the young artists.
Efrén González, a native of Ajijic, was himself a student in the Neill James Children’s Art Program during the 1980s. Since then, he has studied with renowned painters, watercolorists and sculptors, and is now an internationally recognized painter and muralist.
To give back to his community, Efrén established a children’s art program several years ago to nurture a passion for art among local youth. Initially focusing on children from the west side of Ajijic, he now offers free weekly art classes at the Ajijic Museo de Arte, located at Privada Flores Magón 3A. All supplies and materials are provided to the students at no cost. Efrén firmly believes that the children of Ajijic are the future of the local art scene.
