To take great, memorable photographs, it’s essential to understand both the capabilities and limitations of your cell phone camera. The key is learning to shoot smarter and faster, which also requires a basic understanding of how all cameras work.
Renowned photographer Jill Flyer, known locally and internationally, will be teaching two photography courses at the Centro Cultural de Ajijic (CCA) on the Ajijic Plaza: Portraiture and Composition. With years of experience in both photography and teaching, Flyer will guide students through the principles that make photos stand out.
Each course will include slide presentations featuring the work of history’s greatest photographers, followed by discussions on what makes their images compelling and memorable.
Portraiture Course: In the third class, students will practice outdoor portrait photography, using different props and settings to enhance their shots.
Composition Course: Students will also go outdoors but with specific assignments designed to apply the concepts they’ve learned.
In the final session, students will present their work for an open discussion and feedback.
The Portraiture Course starts Wednesday, February 12, at 10 a.m. (third floor, CCA). The Composition Course starts Friday, February 14, at 10 a.m. (same location)
Each course consists of four one-hour sessions held weekly. The cost is 400 pesos per course or 750 pesos for both courses.
