Rex Gale presents “Why Can’t We All Just Get Along: Dissecting the Anatomy of Peace” at Open Circle Sunday, September 24, 10:30 a.m. at Lake Chapala Society.

Gale is a former Fortune 500 human resources executive and management consultant. Navigating conflict has been an integral part of his life in his business and professional consulting career.
A current writer, speaker, and certified personal development coach, he has published numerous articles on human resources, healthcare, and talent development.
A part time resident of Ajijic, he is also a former TEDx speaker and is currently the organizer of TEDxHiltonHead, an independently organized TED event, which showcases “Ideas Worth Spreading” throughout the Lowcountry of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Cat play

Chapala Birders

The Lake Chapala Birders will meet Tuesday, September 26, 8 a.m., at the “Sculpture” in La Floresta, leaving immediately for the Rosa Amarilla Loop (a 60-minute drive). Expect to see a variety of grassland birds and possibly a white-tailed hawk. Bring refreshments for the morning and sandwiches for the 12:30 p.m. lunch stop. Democrats Abroad

Democrats Abroad Lake Chapala will hold “Cocktails & Conversation,” a happy hour and more, at Pancho’s West Wednesday, September 27, 4 p.m. Come have fun, meet old and new friends and chat about big and small things. Totally casual! It’s DA’s first time at Pancho’s in West Ajijic—at Carretera Jocotopec-Chapala 688.

Drag queen bingo

Lucky Dog Rescue and the Pancho Project will benefit from a charity Drag Queen Bingo event, Thursday, September 28, 5 p.m. at Fonda Doña Lola restaurant, at the corner of the Carretera and Alvero Obregon in west Ajijic. Tickets are 500 pesos for eight games of bingo with eight gift certificates and a grand prize of 10,000 pesos.

FoodBank dinner

Simply Joyful restaurant is holding a fundraiser spaghetti dinner for FoodBank Lakeside Thursday, September 28. A 500-peso donation will bring on the meal. Folk trio Traveler provides the music. FoodBank will host a 50-50 raffle and silent auction at the dinner.

Octoberfest

American Legion Post 7 is holding its annual Oktoberfest party, Friday, October 13, 2 to 6 p.m. at the post. The menu includes bratwurst, sauerkraut, browned beer onions, German potato salad, pretzels and dessert. Live music.  The cost is 300 pesos. This event supports the Red Nose Project.
