Linda Ronstadt

Fans of Linda Ronstadt should not delay and head to Act II Entertainment Stages to catch Brittany Kingery’s critically-acclaimed show “Tribute to Timeless Music,” each Friday at 7:30 p.m. through April 27.

Originally from Washington State but now living in Vallarta, Kingery was born into a music-loving family.

Her career has taken off since she decided to take the plunge and turn professional.  She won three 2015 Troprock Music Awards, including Female Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year and the Horizon Award. She has also released two CDs of her original tropically-inspired music, “Edge of the Ocean” (2013) and “Dream in Blue” (2014).

Kingery has been touring with her band around the United States for the past three summers, and is now in her second season at ACT II as a headline singer. Her fine voice and physical likeness to Ronstadt should make this a memorable evening for fans of the Californian singer whose roots are from Mexico.

Rocky Horror

Also well worth seeing this season is Act II Entertainment’s “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” the theatrical version of the movie that sparked a cult movement.

Rocky Horror brings together people from all walks of life and through its compelling attraction explores, in the spirit of glam rock, the liberation from normative heterosexuality, celebration of androgyny and queer sexual awakenings.

The show runs every Thursday at 7 p.m. in 2018 through March. A late-night show is held each Saturday 10 p.m., January-March.

Latcho & Andrea

Latcho & Andrea, also known as “The Blond Gypsies,” have returned to Vallarta for a new season at Incanto, the impressive performing arts venue that opened in January on the banks of the Río Cuale.

This much-admired couple have performed extensively throughout Latin America and on the Iberian peninsula, delighting audiences with their energetic brand of gypsy/flamenco music. They have even played with Gypsy Kings – legends of the genre!

Latcho & Andrea’s set proved to be one of Vallarta most popular shows last season – they invariably ended with the audience dancing in the aisles, reports suggest.

Latcho & Andrea will perform at Incanto Tuesdays, 7 p.m. through March 27, 2018. The venue is located at Insurgentes 109; telephone (322) 223-9756.

A free concert showcasing several talented local musicians and singers takes place in the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe church in downtown Vallarta on Thursday, January 11, 8 p.m.  Playing works by various composers, including Bach and Schubert, will be musicians Jean-Guy Comeau, David Boz, Shanti Doelger, Astro Delta and Lena Bain, who will be joined by tenors Charles Baillargeon and Jim Conzone and sopranos Vanessa Amaro and Sherry Jacobs.
