Cookoff update

The 6th Annual Chili Cook Off, sponsored by the Jay Sadler Project, raised 101,000 pesos, thanks to the many participants:

pg21dThe Saturday morning 104.3 wake up show owith Michael Nolan, Radio Universidad Guadalajara 9 to 11, Anglers Anonymous, Captain Don’s Sports Bar, Casa Anita and Corona Del Mar, D’Z Route 66 Diner, El Torito Sports Bar, Escondida Sports Bar, Kelly’s Pour Favor, Lighthouse Specialty Foods, Luke’s Bar, Murphy’s Irish Pub on the Malecon, Nacho Daddy Restaurant & Sports Bar, Navy League/R.I.S.E. and Torpedos Football Americano. In addition, PV Cupcakes donated 4,180 pesos from the event to charities.

Emcees were Pearl Burrus and Vera Carp, two of the 22 zany characters from “Greater Tuna,” a satirical comedy about small towns, small minds and big hearts, now playing at Incanto in Puerto Vallarta.   All 22 characters are portrayed by two men, Tracy Parks and Ron Spencer.  There are 42 lightning fast costume changes in the show, which will keep you laughing from start to finish.  For tickets, visit IncantoVallarta.com.

In the Popularity Vote, the winners were: 1st place, Nacho Daddy; 2nd place, Hotel Casa Anita; 3rd place, Escondida Sports Bar.

In the Professional Judging Vote, the winners were: 1st place, Captain Dons; 2nd place, American Legion/Anglers Anonymous; 3rd place, Nacho Daddy.

All proceeds went to local charities and the community: Estancia Sabrina Projecto Busca un Amigo, DIF New Life Home for Boys, Refugio Infantil Samta Esperanza, Torpedos American Football, Jay Sadler Community Relations Projects and Anglers Anonymous.

New flight

As of March 10, Southwest Airlines began seasonal nonstop daily service between San Diego and Puerto Vallarta.
