Bomberos Day
The united civil protection and firefighters of Chapala have invited the local community to join in their celebration of the feast day of the firefighters (bomberos) on Saturday, August 22.
Crochet-A-Thon
The kick-off meeting for the Lakeside Granny Square Crochet-A-Thon to benefit economically-challenged children in the north of Mexico is set for Tuesday, August 18, 4 p.m. at La Bodega Restaurant in Ajijic.
Gourmet’s delight
Five local gourmet restaurants are presenting a gastronomic festival at the Central Cultural Gonzalez Gallo (old Chapala train station) on Sunday, August 16, from noon to 6 p.m.
LIA School
The children of the Love in Action School were recently feted during an end of the year “graduation” ceremony. The event was designed to recognize the academic and personal gains of the students and the ongoing assistance and devotion of the staff and teachers. During the 2014-2015 school year, the children’s average GPA improved from 8.1 to 8.5.
Wildlife Bazaar
A special charity bazaar and wildlife expo is set for Sunday, July 26, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Flora Exotica, across the Libramiento from Centro Laguna Mall.
NCA Honors
The organizers of the Niños of Chapala and Ajijic (NCA) will host the 2014-2015 students and their parents and sponsors in a Saturday, July 19, noon graduation fiesta at the NCA office, Chacaltita 20A in Chapala. Receiving special recognition will be those students who are graduating from pre-school, primary, secondary, high school (prepa) and university.
