The 38th Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL), the most significant literary and cultural event in the Spanish-speaking world, is set to take place from Saturday, November 30 to Sunday, December 8.

pg7aeWith Spain as its guest of honor, the fair—held at its traditional venue, the sprawling Expo Guadalajara events center—will host over 850 writers from 43 countries, including Nobel Laureate Abdulrazak Gurnah. This year’s program is packed with over 3,000 activities, and the fair is expected to attract around 800,000 attendees.

FIL serves as a hub for publishing professionals, with more than 18,000 participants from 54 countries expected this year. Programs like the Rights Hall, the Meeting of Independent Bookstores, the San Jerónimo International Translation Colloquium, the FIL Audio Forum, the International University Publishing Forum, and various e-book activities, will provide plenty of spaces for networking and innovation.

While the book titles showcased at the hundreds of publishing houses exhibiting at the fair are mostly in Spanish, visitors will also find a good selection of English-language titles, along with an international section featuring more than 70 stands.
