Fan of “Toy Story”? Have five minutes of spare time? Then take a look at Toystorytetic — a story of “love and courage” between traditional Mexican toys, filmed on location in San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas.
Directed by Fach Ponce and produced by FFIStudio, this short film has been going viral across social media. And once you watch it, it’s easy to see why.
Imagine the magic of “Toy Story” — toys coming to life when humans aren’t watching — but instead of Woody and Buzz, the heroes are a Zapatista doll named Marcos (after the leader of the 1994 uprising), a traditional rag doll named Ramona (after his second-in-command), a Doctor Simi figurine, a balero (cup-and-ball), and a squad of classic Mexican lucha libre wrestlers.
